About |
On March 19, 2019, Lukas Voelz, who is just shy of his 2nd birthday, was diagnosed with B-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Our world came to a halt at that moment and will be forever changed.
Immediately following the diagnosis, his treatment began. Lukas received a bone marrow biopsy and a spinal tap to determine the type of leukemia he had. Lukas underwent surgery to place a port in his chest which will be used to provide chemotherapy treatments for the next 3.5 years. Currently he receives his chemo treatments at Advocate Children's Hospital in Park Ridge, IL. Our 2 year old Lukas is strong, brave, and a fighter! We know he will beat this and go on to do great things in life. Lukas is the most remarkable little boy that you will ever come across. He will never let on that he doesn't feel good or that something is wrong. He will power through anything. He has always been a fighter. He is the strongest and bravest kid you will have ever met. You would never know that he has cancer at all. When we get home from clinic, Lukas is running around with his brother Jakob, laughing, giggling, eating, and playing like normal. Nothing can hold him back! He wears a smiles on his face each and every day. He is the happiest kid I know. He walks into clinic with a smile, during treatments he is talkative and happy and flirts with all the nurses, and he walks out with a smile on his face holding his brothers hand saying "bye bye" to everyone. He is taught us all what the meaning of perseverance is, how to over challenges, and being a happy person. He is the most amazing person that I have ever met. I am in awe of his strength each day even-though he feels terrible, you would never know it. Please share this page, and continue to keep Lukas in the forefront of your thoughts and prayers. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and to help out in any way that you can. Any donation, is so deeply appreciated. With grateful hearts, The Voelz Family |
